He also has new super 8 and 16mm`s in too too they are just sorting out and listing at present so put the post on here.

Drop him an email for the 35mm list now, and others soon.

When you think about all the Derann negs going in to the ground its painful !!!

I wish there was a way to get a lab set up in the UK.

I wonder if there is a room sat somewhere locked up full of the gear !!!

I also wonder if the lab could do an all in one neg with optical sound ?

Or something direct from digital to Film with optical sound etc etc and so on.

        You never know ?

        Best Mark.

Mark - I think a UK lab would be a dream come true, but sadly easier said than done! Maybe there's some long-neglected printing equipment somewhere, although even if it surfaced and some of us invested in getting it going, the immediate question would be the viability of using it, in terms of stock availability. The recent Pro 8 videos imply that a digital to Super 8 service that might be the equivalent of what Marco does could be imminent, but whether that could help make affordable releases possible is another matter.

In the 1980s, I heard of an obscure business called Sonovision in Vauxhall Bridge Road. I think the main part of the business was wedding photography, but amazingly I could take them 35mm trailers and about a week later pick up a Super 8 copy with magnetic sound. The price was very reasonable, being about 50% more than the (low) cost of a trailer from Derann at the time. I still have three or four. Whether such a printer could be used today is questionable, but I'd happily look into it in the unlikely situation that one became available.

I wonder if they did it themselves or sent it out to one of two advertisers in Movie Maker who offered the service and more.

They were Colour Tone and Colour Technique who advertised blow up and reduction printing. I think there was an article about Colour Technique showing the specialised printers that the man running it had built.

The thing is Mark it was dedication from Derek to 8 that made the.magic happen. He would always listen to what collectors wanted and I do have pile of home video filmed at the open day tentatively listening to film collectors wants requests. Del was unique in that he was gifted with a good ear for what collectors wanted and this knowledge was hand on, not by remote means.
No remote list, massive collection will ever replace what we had with Del and his dedication to his market. Us...

                  No thats right Lee.

Its hard to imagine super 8 without Derann and his imput.

                  Glory days.

He was very nice to me when I first met him, way back in 88/ 89 I think.

                  Best Mark.
